I picked him up in a wounded condition. I cannot trust you nor your web, quickly responded the wise fly. Surely I will do you no harm and as for the web I will hold it aside until you get into the interior apartment. Come quickly, for your friend s sake. The fly knew better, but the thought of a friend crying for him blinded his senses to the peril. A moment later the spider was seen pulling his web aside to make a so-called safe passage for the fly. As soon as the fly was inside he was tangled in the denser webs and was struggling to be free. Where is my friend Z cried the fly in despair. I think I see him coming for you outside near the web. If you keep real quiet, perchance I can induce him to come in and assist you. If I tell him that you are helpless that will not be telling a lie, will it? Then the poor fly saw how he had been caught and begged the spider for liberty. But Mr. Spider pretended that he could not hear any cry from within, and so the miserable fly perished to make...
